Why Test For Radon?
Learn More
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can accumulate indoors, posing significant health risks. Prolonged exposure to elevated radon levels is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in the UK.
Testing for radon is the only way to determine if your home or workplace contains dangerous levels of this invisible threat. Regular testing ensures a safer environment for all, particularly for the youngest and most vulnerable members of your household or community.
Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of radon exposure. Their lungs are still developing, making them more sensitive to the harmful impacts of ionising radiation. Prolonged exposure in environments such as homes, schools, or childcare facilities can pose serious health risks over time.

Our Services
We offer two types of radon tests designed to meet your needs:
- Short-Term Radon Screening (10 days)
Ideal for quick results, perfect if you need an indicative reading in a short time frame. - 90-Day UKHSA Validated Radon Test
The most accurate method for assessing long-term radon exposure.
The 90-day radon test provides reliable results. Its extended testing period ensures a comprehensive assessment of radon concentration levels in your property, accounting for fluctuations due to weather, pressure changes, and daily activities. For accuracy and confidence in radon measurement, the 90-day test is our gold standard, strongly recommend and the only test validated by the UKHSA.
However, there are circumstances where immediate results are required. In such cases, we offer a short-term 10-day test as a preliminary screening tool. While this shorter test provides a valuable indicator of radon concentration levels, it is not validated by the UKHSA and does not meet regulatory compliance of a workplace risk assessment (IRR17). Short term screenings should be seen as a temporary measure. We strongly advocate following up with a validated 90-day test for a more thorough and reliable assessment. By combining these testing options, we ensure that your needs for immediacy and accuracy are both met, helping you take the necessary steps to safeguard health and safety.
Method Of Measurement

Closed track etch detector
Our detectors are compact and unintrusive diffusion chambers. The main component is a small piece of radiation sensitive material which is damaged by the decay of radon gas entering, producing microscopic invisible tracks. The tracks are made visible by chemicals during an etch process. The radon exposure is assessed by counting the number of tracks, using a highly sophisticated microscope based analysis system and software.
